workin' it

gym shoes

For the last three weeks I've been hitting the gym religiously every morning. Randy set me up a routine in the weight room which I have been sticking to every other day. Randy's workout focused on the upper body, so on the off days I've been working my butt off in cardio and focusing on my legs.

Today however I woke up late having slept right through my alarm. I think the 'ol body needed a break. That and my work changed my schedule for a few weeks which meant getting up many hours earlier if I wanted to get a workout in.

Now I'm feeling rather lazy having sat on my butt all day at work and having an excessive lunch with the co-workers.

tree

2min-tree

Dear Reader:

I took 2 minutes out of my day to watercolor you a crappy tree. It is intentionally crappy, but I did it just for you. Just be glad it doesn't look like a turd bagel.

Happy friday,

Daniel

watercolors

watercolor-bagel

I was bored at work, so I took a very late lunch and walked around fred meyer's. Passing the craft isles, I eyed a watercolor set among some of the crayons and such for kids. So I snagged the cheapest one, grabbed a sandwich, and got back to the office.

I sat staring at the blank paper not sure what to attempt to paint. I never really watercolored before so I wasn't expecting anything. I thought back to walking around the grocery when it hit me... if i could've bought anything, I'd get an everything bagel.

So I painted it.

Now, I'm not saying it looks like a bagel. It actually looks more like a turd with a blob in the middle and specs of something all around the top. But you know what? It says bagel to me, so I'm happy with it. Besides, it only had one little crappy brush, how much could I really expect out of a $2 watercolor set?

life is dull.

I came into work today to sit down and get some stuff done when my evil minion, Nathan, turned and told me that we have nothing to do. I gave him a look like he was crazy. We had been working day and night pushing print orders through our queue down to the printer. Our new site is still in beta and is in constant need of attention. Evidently, our current duties were suspended while an outside party is monkeying around.

So we're twiddling our thumbs today.

We took a break and went outside. Not that we were breaking from anything but it was something to do. Somehow we got on the subject of contentment. I told him my life is boring. I get up, go to the gym, go to work, sleep. Everyday. I have been trying to get out and do things on the weekends, but the weekdays are uber-lame.

Last weekend I ran out with Smitty and Tranny (the graphics guy and his fiance) and dabled with our cameras out at Gasworks Park here in Seattle. It was fun, here are examples of some of the images I took.. Neither are great, but i'm still learning about HDR imaging. Each are a combination of 14 different exposures, but they both are not as crisp as they could be. I still need to find money to buy a remote so i'm not touching the camera.

But, in the end, I need to find some excitement. I have a job, good home, but lame life. I need to find something that excites me. Photography is interesting to me, but not something that necessarily excites me. I've said all this before, so I'll stop now.

What to do, what to do. *twiddles thumbs*

shuffle to the left...shuffle to the right... shuffle shuffle shuffle

ipod_shuffle_pink_back

So i'm borrowing a last gen shuffle at the moment, but I want one of my own for the gym. I want the new little hot pink one, cuz it's cool. So I jumped on mac.com to order one and forgot you could have ipods engraved for free if you ordered direct.

The question of the day is: If you were buying me a shuffle as a gift, what would you have engraved on it?

tax woes

I worked on my taxes last night and looks like I owe $3000.

I almost cried.

So I started the "Save Daniel's Butt" fund. Any rich people with $3000 burning a hole in their pocket?

it made me laugh

I went outside for a stretch. Behind our building there is some construction going on and two guys were taking some measurements. One was at the top of the steep hill and one at the bottom and both were shouting back and forth.

Worker 1: I don't think I needed this vest!
Worker 2: What about your chest??
Worker 1: VEST!
Worker 2: Your breasts?
Worker 1: They're hard and supple!
Worker 2: Maybe your having twins!
Worker 1: I think we'll need a bigger truck!
Worker 2: We can get a mini van!

having a good day today

DSC00268

today was my second day going to the gym and lifting. randy had taken me over the weekend to the local gym and put together a routine for me to follow. my arms hurt so bad getting up today. they were bad yesterday, but today was even worse! it was expected, i just like to complain. :)

even tho my arms hung lifeless at my sides, i forced myself to the gym, went through my routine, and was feeling awesome by the time i left. i lazed around west seattle, drank latte's, got ready for work, and took off.

lazy mornings are good, mmm'kay?

i'm going to be going every morning. haven't decided about weekends yet, but i'll be there every weekday before work. i like having a later schedule!

pissy...again

ducks

I'm pissy today, one thing after another has contributed to my mental state.

I want to go home but don't want to deal with traffic, so i'm still sitting at work.

You probably should've just kept staring at the ducks and avoided reading this. Wasn't really worth your time, was it? :P
